The Virtual Store of the Procurement Service which is hosted in the PhilGEPS system goes live, signaling its full implementation, on July 18, 2011.  Agencies can now transact and purchase from the Procurement Service their common office goods requirements via the internet at www.philgeps.net.

This electronic and digital processing of procurement transactions facilitates a faster, easier and more economical way of acquiring common office goods sold to government agencies by the Procurement Service.  The inefficiencies and delay that characterized the manual process have been addressed in the Virtual Store.  The implementation of the Virtual Store ushers the first wave of applications towards the realization of eProcurement in government in the Philippines.   In the succeeding months, the PS and PhilGEPS will launch the Expanded Supplier Registry, ePayment and eBidding in the PhilGEPS.

The Virtual Store started on a pilot basis last August 2010 in agencies such as the DBM-Central Office, University of Rizal System, National Irrigation Administration, Pag-Ibig-Cubao Office and the National Aquatic and Fisheries Council.  These agencies are now ready to fully utilize the Virtual Store.  Last June 21-23, 2011, the PS and the PhilGEPS conducted an orientation and hands-on training on the Virtual Store with 25 government agencies to prepare them for the full implementation of the Virtual Store.   Starting the month of July, 2011, the Procurement Service shall be inviting ten government agencies every week for a series of Focus Group Discussions and hands-on training on the Virtual Store.

For reference and for the information of government agencies, attached is the communication issued by the PS Executive Director on the implementation of the Virtual Store and the Readiness Assessment Form and Virtual Store Buyer Registration Form that client agencies need to fill up prior to implementation of the Virtual Store in their respective agencies.  Agencies are advised to fill up these forms and submit same to the PS Agency Servicing Division for processing.   The PS Information Technology Division and the Planning and Technical Services and Support Division will schedule government agencies for the orientation and hands-on training that will be regularly held every Friday, starting August 4, 2011.
